Bus Trips to New York From Canton, Ohio
A bus trip from Canton, Ohio, to New York takes anywhere from 14 to 18 hours and, depending on the route, takes you through Akron, Ohio, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Travelers have the option of traveling during the day or taking an overnight bus and driving through the night. There are several different options for bus travel from Canton to New York.

Greyhound Lines

Greyhound Lines has several trips originating in Canton and ending in New York. The first leg of the trip, from Canton to Akron, is operated by Lakefront Lines Bus Tours, and the following legs are operated by Greyhound Bus Lines. Most trips from Canton to Akron take approximately 30 minutes by bus, with a transfer time of approximately an hour. The second bus then takes you from Akron to either Baltimore or Pittsburgh, where you will transfer to your final bus to New York. The Baltimore route makes several stops in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland and takes approximately nine hours to Baltimore and an additional four hours to New York. The Pittsburgh route makes fewer stops and takes two hours from Akron to Pittsburgh, then 8.5 hours to New York.

Fook Sing "Chinatown" Bus

A Fook Sing bus departs once daily from Canton bound for New York City's Chinatown except on Fridays. Vans depart from Canton and meet the bus on Highway 80 at Exit 226.

Caution

Although Chinatown buses are often less expensive than Greyhound or other buses, they are sometimes unreliable and can take more than twice the amount of time to reach their final destination. Before purchasing tickets for the Fook Sing bus, be sure to call the bus company prior to travel to make sure that the bus is still running and that it will be in service on your date of travel.
