3 Star Hotels in Paris

3 Star Hotels in Paris
Unlike the US where hotel star ratings can vary widely depending on the source, the French Government assigns a strict one to four star rating to each hotel based on the furnishings, building style, and amenities offered at each establishment. For example, to receive a three star rating, a hotel must have English speaking staff, offer breakfast in your room and an elevator if over four stories tall. In Paris, three star hotels are typically located in good neighborhoods, have comfortable and clean rooms, but don't have amenities such as gift shops, bars, restaurants or fitness facilities. Many three star hotels are small, family-run establishments that will give you the feel of living like a local. For the adventurous traveler who wants to experience Parisian culture and the outdoors, three star hotels are a great choice.

Hotel Jardin d' Odeon

Located on a quiet street in the St. Germain des Pres area of Paris, the Hotel Jardin d' Odeon is a great location to explore Paris' famous Left Bank and Latin Quarter. This small, boutique hotel, centered around a leafy courtyard with a fountain, is decorated in Parisian art deco style. All rooms contain an Apple computer for surfing the web, watching DVDs or listening to music. There are no fitness facilities on-site, but there is no need when the 65 acre Luxembourg Gardens are a few blocks away. The Luxembourg Gardens are one of the most popular parks in Paris, and offer outdoor activities for all ages, in a beautiful, stress-free setting. Built in 1610, the Gardens contain numerous trails for jogging, tennis courts and a large lake, playgrounds, and wrought iron chairs scattered about for a relaxing and having a picnic. Staff will help direct you to the Gardens and recommend local markets for a picnic lunch.

Hotel Paris Bastille

Located in the Bastille area of Paris on the right bank, the Hotel Paris Bastille is a good choice for guests looking for more space than a typical 3-star hotel. The hotel has 6 junior suites with a drawing room, bathroom and a shower room. The rooms hold up to four people comfortably. The decor is modern with each room containing a flat screen TV, WiFi access, minibars and courtesy trays. Like all three stars, the Hotel Paris Bastille does not contain fitness facilities. However, the hotel is within walking distance to the Promenade Plantee, an elevated railway that has been renovated into a 4.5 km garden pathway. The Promenade Plantee is a perfect spot for jogging or exploring the outlying neighborhoods of Paris. The Hotel Paris Bastille is also walking distance to the Arsenal Harbour, where you can ride or rent boats.

This 17 room hotel is filled with antiques, but contains modern conveniences including Wifi access, televisions and minibars. For outdoor activities, the Hotel Latour Maubourg is located next to Les Invalides, a large park dedicated to France's military history, and is a great area for jogging or joining a pick up soccer game. A few blocks away is the Eiffel Tower surrounded by the large park, Le Champs de Mars, which contains tennis courts, soccer fields and picnic areas directly under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. A short walk in the opposite direction of the Eiffel Tower is the Seine River, where you can enjoy a boat ride or a run along a long gravel trail and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Paris skyline.
