Situated in scenic western Tennessee, Jackson has a population of 60,000 and offers a variety of attractions, historic sites and outdoor opportunities for visitors. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy hiking and biking along the many trails and state parks in the Jackson metropolitan area, and fishermen, golfers, bikers and history buffs will appreciate Jackson's many lakes, golf courses, museums, battlefields, railroads and historic houses.

Chickasaw State Park

Located 18 miles south of Jackson and home to over 14,000 acres of forest, Chickasaw State Park offers miles of biking and hiking trails. Visitors can rent rowboats and fish on Lake Placid. There is also a beach, a restaurant and a campground. Golfers will enjoy 18-hole Bear Trace golf course situated on Chickasaw State Park grounds.

Natchez Trace State Park

Visitors can enjoy boating and fishing on Natchez Trace State Park's four lakes, swimming at the park's picturesque beach or hiking its many scenic trails. Located just 35 miles east of Jackson, Natchez Trace State Park offers easy access to other state parks such as Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park, Mousetail Landing State Park, Chickasaw State Park and Pinson Mounds State Park.

Britton Lane Battlefield

The Battle of Britton's Lane is commemorated at Britton Lane Battlefield. A fun destination for families and Civil War enthusiasts, reenactments are available upon request. The battlefield is located about 10 miles south of Jackson.

Century Farm Winery

Wine lovers will enjoy visiting Jackson's own Century Farm Winery, where they can sample over 12 varieties of wine and indulge in a bottle or two while sitting outside and enjoying the view. Tastings and visits are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Lake Graham

Visitors will enjoy fishing and boating on Lake Graham. Fishing equipment is available for rent or sale. Note that jet-skiing and swimming is not allowed.

Discovery Museum of West Tennessee

Those interested in learning a bit about Jackson and West Tennessee's history may want to pay a visit to the Discovery Museum of West Tennessee. Check the website for on-going children's events. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
