The tiny town of Murdo is located in sparsely populated Jones County (which has just over 1,000 inhabitants in nearly 1,000 square miles), about 3 hours from popular South Dakota attractions such as the Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, Badlands National Park and Custer National Park. Murdo is a typical pioneer prairie town and provides easy access to the Murdo Rodeo Arena, Murdo City Park, North Dam, the Rolling Prairie 9-hole Golf Course, Fort Pierre National Grassslands, the Pioneer Auto Museum and fishing and hiking opportunities.
