Jonesboro, Arkansas was first settled by the Osages, Caddoes and the Quapaw Indians in early 1800's, then later by voyagers, trappers, and Indian traders. Settlers made Jonesboro the permanent seat of justice in 1859. The town remains mostly agricultural, but offers visitors many modern amenities such as shopping centers, restaurants and 75 churches representing most denominations, with the two oldest established in 1911 and 1916. Jonesboro also offers 21 parks that cover 915 acres and have a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports such as basketball, tennis courts, soccer and football.
