Pet-Friendly Hotels in St. Simons Island, Georgia
Vacation time is here again and you have chosen St. Simon's Island, the largest of Georgia's Golden Isles, as the place to relax and have fun. There's one thing you want to know---are there accommodations on the island that welcome dogs and cats? The Sea Palms Inn and Beachview House say yes.

Sea Palms Inn

The 100-room Sea Palms Inn welcomes cats and dogs. There is a $50 nonrefundable pet fee per stay, and there are no breed or weight restrictions.

The hotel offers a daily complimentary deluxe continental breakfast, free weekday newspaper and free coffee in the lobby. Guests can enjoy an on-site fitness room, indoor heated pool, spa tub, outdoor pool and sundeck. The Inn presents a complimentary wine-and-cheese reception Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Each room features a refrigerator, microwave, cable TV, hairdryer, telephone with voicemail, free local calls and free Internet access.

Interesting places to visit include the 18th-century Fort Frederica National Monument; Little St. Simons Island, a 10,000-acre natural and secluded private barrier island accessible only by boat; historic St. Simons Lighthouse and Maritime Center; St. Simons Village; Neptune Park; Jekyll Island; Cumberland Island National Seashore with one of the largest maritime forests remaining in the United States; and the 438,000-acre Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

Beachview House

Beachview House, a 1,500-square-foot home, boasts three bedrooms and four baths. It can accommodate up to nine people. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed. There are no breed or weight restrictions. The fee is $45 per dog per stay. No cats are allowed.

Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, monogrammed Anichini hotel linen towels and robes, Italian all-cotton sheets, soft feather beds with four pillows per bedroom, hairdryers, full-sized washer and dryer, fax machine, high-speed Internet access, VoIP phone network, cable TV, DVD/VCR, stereo, central heat and air, library, charcoal barbecue grill, crib, high chair, children's games and toys, monogrammed dog bowls, fully fenced backyard, outdoor shower facility, porch furniture and sleeper sofa in the living room.

Located in St. Simons Village, Beachview House is within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, Neptune Park, a fishing pier, historic St. Simons Lighthouse and Maritime Center, bike paths, golf courses, public tennis courts and beaches. There is an enjoyable view of the Atlantic Ocean, which is less than a block away, from the house's 330-square-foot partially screened-in porch.

Initially built in 1892 on Cumberland Island as three cottages, Beachview House was floated by barge on the Atlantic Ocean and renovated into one cottage on St. Simons Island. The house retains much of its historic appeal with its original hardwood floors, bead-board walls, claw-foot bathtub and antique furnishings.
