The Brainerd area provides a centralized base from which you can enjoy outdoor adventure, plentiful lakes and tourist attractions like miniature golf. Canoe resorts can be found throughout Minnesota to give paddlers a variety of options to explore.

Gunflint Lodge

Located on the Gunflint Trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the Gunflint Lodge was established in 1927 and combines a rich history with modern conveniences and the quiet beauty of the Boundary Waters area. Nestled along Gunflint Lake in northeastern Minnesota, the Gunflint Lodge invites guests to explore the outdoors on foot or by canoe.

Guests have a choice of classic cabins, lake homes and cottages. Each provides a variety of amenities. Two-bedroom lake homes offer luxuries such as a private sauna, spa, gas fireplace, kitchen, private outdoor deck and two private bath. A classic one-bedroom cabin offers a king bed, kitchenette, CD player, fireplace, private bath and charcoal grill.

Guests enjoy activities ranging from sunset paddle canoe excursions to guided wilderness hikes. On-site dining options include Justine's and The Red Paddle Bistro; both feature regional cuisine. Pets are welcome at the Gunflint Lodge with an additional charge.

Moose Track Lodge

The Moose Track Lodge is located seven miles from Ely. Guests can choose from two- and three-bedroom lakeside cabins furnished with a kitchen, cookware, utensils, coffee maker, pine furniture, microwave, and deck and grills. Access to the Internet and television is provided at the resort's lodge and some cabins. Campsites are available for those who prefer to camp in tent or camper. Up to two dogs are allowed, but they must be attended at all times.

Guests can rent canoes and get a BWCA permit at the resort or take part in a guided canoe trip offered by the resort. The cabins' kitchenettes allow guests to prepare their meals if they do not wish to travel into Ely for one of its several restaurants.

Lost Lake Lodge

With 80 acres to explore, the Lost Lake Lodge serves as a natural outdoor playground near Brainerd. Choose from one of 13 cabins complete with all the comforts of home. One- to three-bedroom cabins are available. Each provides guests with air-conditioning, fireplace, deck, bedding, towels, private shower and bath and refrigerator. Included with lodging is daily breakfast and dinner served in the Lost Lake Lodge dining room. Guests can choose from a variety of entrees, ranging from walleye en paillote to filet mignon. Guests enjoy free access to canoes, kayaks, basketball, beach, water rafts, bikes and more.
