American Restaurants in Seoul, Korea
After a long day of hiking around Seoul, nothing is better than a juicy burger and fries. If you're not in the mood to dig into the local cuisine, there are plenty of American restaurants in this cosmopolitan city to choose from. While you will surely encounter a KFC, McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts on every corner, there are American restaurants that offer a sit-down experience for a decent price.

Gecko's Garden Restaurant

Head to Gecko's Garden Restaurant for a variety of American-style meals, like its crispy fish sandwich or a chicken Cesar salad. In the mood for lighter fare? It has plenty of grilled options and fresh veggies to choose from. Nestled in Seoul's Itaewon neighborhood, this popular spot is frequented by plenty of American military members stationed at nearby Yongsan Army Garrison. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. It has a full-service bar with plenty of American beers on tap to enjoy after a long hike. Alternately, prepare for a full day of sightseeing by checking out its brunch menu. Entrees range in price from $8 USD to $25 USD.

Smokey's Saloon

Also in Itaewon, Smokey's Saloon boasts the best burger in Seoul, according to The New York Times. As the restaurant's name suggests, this tiny place is small dive with a cozy atmosphere. Try the Cowboy Burger for a mouthwatering treat overflowing with mushrooms and Monterrey jack cheese. Entrees here are very affordable and come in American-sized portions. Smokey's is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on weekends. Expect to spend about $8 USD per person. To get there, take subway line six to Itaewon Station.

Top Cloud Bar & Grill

If you're looking for a classier place to relax after a long day of backpacking, check out the Top Cloud Bar & Grill in Jongno Tower. This modern restaurant is in the Dongdaemun shopping area in central Seoul. With dishes like mushroom risotto and thick steaks, Top Cloud is perfect for a date. The restaurant is situated on the 33rd floor of Jongno Tower and has a spectacular view of the city. A sit-down dinner can be pricey and requires reservations, but you can check out its daily lunch buffet from 11:50 a.m. to 2 p.m. for about $22 USD a plate.
