A hamlet on the North Shore of Long Island, Fort Solanga takes its name from a Revolutionary War British fort (and its designer) that was positioned nearby. Although an area known primarily for its affluence, Fort Solanga and its nearby neighbors are certainly not without opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors through a variety of activities. Whether visiting one of the many public beaches, spending a day on the links at one of the local golf courses or visiting one of the 14 state and local parks located in a 20-mile radius, recreational opportunities for hiking, bicycling, swimming and more abound in Fort Solanga.
