Central Illinois Running Clubs

Central Illinois Running Clubs
Whether you just started running or have a few marathons under the belt, a running club can help you meet new friends, training partners or run routes. Running clubs also provide a great opportunity for community involvement by volunteering at a race or recruiting new people. Central Illinois is the heart of the running scene. Every town in the heartland from Bloomington-Normal to Quincy has a run club that supports every age and fitness level.

Illinois Valley Striders

Based in Peoria, Ill., the Illinois Valley Striders are a running club focused on training and racing. Founded in 1973, the group hosts over 100 run events, including the nationally known Steamboat Classic, featuring a 4-mile and 15k distance. They also help support many causes like the Illinois State Cross Country Championship by providing timing and results. Yearly memberships are available online or through the mail. Group runs are held on Sundays, or you can join one of their 10-week training programs.
