Steak & Seafood Restaurants in Wildwood, Missouri

Steak & Seafood Restaurants in Wildwood, Missouri
Wildwood, Mo., located in western St. Louis County, is a third-ring suburb of the city of St. Louis. A 2005 population estimate put Wildwood at 34,841 people. The 66.4 square miles covered make it the third largest city (by area) in Missouri. As might be expected, steakhouses are plentiful. After all, this is cattle country. The seafood's not bad either. There are restaurants in Wildwood that cater to those who have a hankering for surf-and-turf food.

Big Bear Grill

The Big Bear Grill's steak restaurant in Wildwood is the original location of this two-restaurant chain. If you're looking for steak and seafood, and lots of it when it comes to portion size, drop by this hunting lodge-themed restaurant. Big Bear Grill is locally owned, so expect to find something besides the "cookie cutter" feel of the large franchises. Known for monster portions and moderate prices, you can get a hand-cut rib-eye or New York strip steak (various sizes) served with homemade and loaded garlic mashed potatoes. If fried seafood is your thing, you can choose walleye, catfish or shrimp. Grilled salmon is done three different ways--scampi, lemon pepper or blackened.

Indigo Joe's Sports Pub and Restaurant

Indigo Joe's sets its eye on a slightly higher mark than the average sports bar when it comes to food quality. Certified angus beef steaks are char-grilled according to your taste--same with its burgers--expect a half-pound of Certified angus beef with names like Burger on Fire, Teriyaki Burger, California Burger or the traditional Regular Joe Burger. If you're looking for a seafood restaurant in Wildwood, choices at Indigo Joe's include fried shrimp, calamari rings, fish tacos and a fresh grilled swordfish with either blackened or Cajun seasonings. The swordfish also is available on a sandwich, as is a grilled ahi tuna. The seafood sandwiches are part of a generous selection that covers all the basics like Rueben, Philly cheesesteak and more.

Stone Wolf Grill

Although its main focus is steaks, Stone Wolf doesn't ignore the seafood. All steaks have been aged 21 days and cut from grain-fed beef. Many people prefer the tenderness and flavor that comes along with proper aging. Stone Wolf steaks range in size from a 10-ounce sirloin up to an 18-ounce porterhouse. If you're not planning to bust a gut on beef, the lighter side of the Stone Wolf menu offers skewered grilled shrimp, swordfish, bourbon-glazed salmon, Cajun lime tilapia, as well as a lobster bite appetizer and lobster bisque. Large sea scallops can be hard to find on restaurant menus this far from the ocean, but Stone Wolf has them.
