Golden Eagle Lodge

The Golden Eagle lodge is ideally located on the Gunflint Trail in northeastern Minnesota. The lodge is on Flour Lake, in the middle of the Superior National Forest, and offers guests the option of camping or cabin accommodations. The lodge carries a full line of tackle and bait, and Flour Lake is a great place to cast your line for walleye, small-mouth bass or lake trout. All cabins have fully equipped kitchens as well as charcoal grills and picnic tables. After a hearty breakfast, guests do not have to go far to start fishing, as each cabin has its own boat dock. There are plenty of other activities for the whole family at the Golden Eagle Lodge. Kids can take a dip in the Lake, while Mom relaxes in the lodge sauna. Other activities include hiking, ice skating, canoeing and world-class cross country skiing, depending on the time of year you visit the lodge.

Aspen Resort

Aspen Resort, located on Pelican Lake in Orr, Minn., offers something for everyone in the family. The fisherman in the family can spend the day casting for large-mouth bass, walleye, small-mouth bass and northern pike. All of the newly built cabins have fully equipped kitchens, satellite television and air-conditioning. If you have an RV, the resort also has an RV campground offering full hookups. For guests who do not arrive with their own boat, the resort offers a variety of boats that can be rented on a daily or weekly basis. There is no shortage of activities for the whole family at Aspen Resort. You can take a dip in the swimming pool or relax in the hot tub. Kids can play volleyball, basketball or spend some time in the video game room. The social atmosphere of Aspen Resort is something that makes it special, with its nightly campfire and weekly weenie roast. The Orr area offers vacationers a number of golf courses to play, as well as wildlife exploration at Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary and the International Wolf Center in Ely.

If muskie or walleye fishing is your game, then Cass Lake is the place to go fishing, and Horseshoe Resort is a great Lake resort to accommodate you. Cass Lake is rated in the top 10 fishing holes for both and also offers pan fish, large-mouth bass, jumbo perch and northern pike. For your fishing needs, the resort offers boat rentals, bait, tackle and fishing licenses. Horseshoe Resort offers luxury and economy cabins, all fully equipped. The resort has a playground, sand beach, a restaurant, wireless Internet service and is surrounded by the Chippewa National Forest. If you want to shop, dine out or catch a movie, all are available within a short driving distance. The forest has a number of activities, including hunting, hiking, horseback riding, biking and snowmobiling.
