Crab Restaurants in Clearwater, Florida

Crab Restaurants in Clearwater, Florida
Clearwater, Fla., and the adjacent Clearwater Beach area are a haven for water sports enthusiasts and trail lovers alike. There are many miles of paved all-purpose trails for bikers, walkers, runners and hikers, as well as splendid kayak trails and opportunities for fishing everywhere you look. Alongside all the outdoor fun, you will find exceptional restaurants, many of which serve locally harvested crab and other fresh seafood varieties, prepared in countless delectable ways. They are not to be missed when in the area.

Frenchy's Restaurants

Frenchy's Restaurants are local favorites for good reason. With a fleet of seven boats, Frenchy's Seafood Co. harvests Gulf seafood and directly supplies all four of Frenchy's restaurants with super fresh grouper and seafood. The company was started in 1981 by Mike Preston, a French Canadian transplant, and instantly outgrew its original location as long lines snaked down Baymont Street. Each new location has added signature dishes and each has a different menu. Boiled shrimp, the crabby shrimp sandwich and fried grouper were immediate hits at the Original Frenchy's. Frenchy's Rockaway Grill is located beachside, with the music and partiers often spilling onto the sand. The food at Rockaway is amazing, and you should not leave Clearwater without tasting the fish tacos or having a bowl of Frenchy's she-crab soup. Frenchy's Saltwater Café originated the Grouper Reuben, and its conch fritters and buffalo shrimp also are popular. Newly opened South Beach is the place to watch people enjoying themselves and also the beautiful Gulf of Mexico sunsets.

Cooters Restaurant

In business since 1993, Cooters features all-you-can-eat crab legs on Mondays and Tuesdays, all-you-can-eat fish and chips on Wednesdays, Super Grouper on Thursdays and daily happy hours--both early and late. With the attached sports bar, Cooters turns into a young, hip environment in the late evenings but is tame enough for families during the day. Voted Best Florida Style Restaurant by Tampa Bay Magazine for 2008 and 2009, Cooters does a brisk business every day of the week, but the service is always friendly and fast.

Crabby Bill's Restaurants

Now with eight different locations, Crabby Bill's Restaurants grew from the original on Causeway Boulevard on Clearwater Beach. The quaint little seafood restaurants started more than 25 years ago have grown into a Clearwater institution. The Beachwalk location on the south end of Clearwater Beach features happy hours till 1 a.m. and beautiful daily sunsets from your table. All of Crabby Bill's locations feature freshly prepared seafood any way you like it, including steamer buckets filled with crab legs, mussels, shrimp and clams. Seafood lovers will get their fill at any of Crabby Bill's locations. There are entrees stuffed full of shrimp, lobster, crab, scallops, clams, oysters, Alaskan Pollock and, of course, fresh-caught Gulf grouper fish. Go ahead and tell the waitress you want fried clams, blackened grouper and grilled scallops, with a side of conch fritters. Crabby's can do that, and much more.
