Restaurants in Niskayuna, New York
A small hamlet in the Southeast part of Schenectady county, Niskayuna is just a stone's throw from New York state's capital, Albany. Locally famous for its lack of a traditional Fourth of July holiday (Niska-Day is the substitute) Niskayuna offers a limited number of options for the traveller seeking a wide variety of food types. While the gourmand might be better served by heading into Albany, there are plenty of alternatives for those seeking simple, healthy (and yes, cheaper) fare.

LT's Grill

Owned and operated by two life-long friends LJ Goldstock and Tom Coppola, who grew up in the area, LT's Grill is a family style restaurant offering everything from deli sandwiches to lobster tail. While most items on the menu are heavy on the carbs, there is also a large salad bar for those looking for lighter, healthier fare. A kids' menu offers cheaper items at reduced prices. Thursday nights live music is offered with a variety of local bands playing from 6:30-9:00pm. Check LT's website for schedule information.

Gershon's Deli & Caterers

Originally opened in 1954 by Irv and Lena Gershon in 1954 at a nearby location, Gershon's is the Capital region's oldest kosher delicatessen. While the business is in the hands of new owners, the mission is the same: fresh and well-prepared deli favorites. Shop the store's grocery to make your own lunch, or order from the extensive list of deli sandwiches or bagel sandwiches to eat-in or take-out. A perfect place to grab a Sunday brunch on the run or a bag lunch to bring on a long hike or overnight camping trip, Gershon's also offers specialty made to order "Cakes by Kelly" for those with a sweet tooth.

Cella Bistro

Named the "best bistro in the Capital Region" by Metroland Staff Picks, Cella Bistro delivers an eclectic menu that includes Southern Mediterranean offerings as well as a Spanish style Tapas Menu. Executive Chef Michael Cella graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 2004 and brings a refined touch to this local eatery. Seasonal items such as fiddle-head ferns, ramps and long-stemmed artichokes are featured on the menu, and a well-rounded wine list completes the experience. If you are looking for an escape from the wilderness and a touch of class, this is the destination for you. While not open for lunch, Cella is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of hiking, biking or climbing.
