Oregon Coast Budget Hotels

Oregon Coast Budget Hotels
Few things are as relaxing as a coastal stay in the Pacific Northwest, but finding accommodations near the ocean can be a costly venture. Oregon offers some of the most striking coastline in the country and low-cost hotels give travelers on any budget an opportunity to vacation to its seaside towns. The Oregon coast is a great place for adventurers, who can choose from its many biking and hiking trails, fishing and whale-watching trips, and even great water rafting junkets.

Floras Lake House

This unique bed and breakfast has both ocean and lake views. Located on Floras Lake along the Oregon Coast, only a thin stretch of sand separates this freshwater lake from the ocean. Each room comes with a deck and private entrance to complete the sense of serene solitude. The Floras Lake House is a perfect retreat for the quiet traveler whose idea of time well-spent includes nature walks along the beach or one of the state trails. Wildlife in the area is known to make appearances and includes elk, black bears and otters. You might even catch sight of the ever-elusive bald eagle. Rooms begin around $145, and on average only go up about $10 per room during high season.

Sylvia Beach Hotel

The Sylvia Beach Hotel creates an uncommon retreat for its guests. Truly a place for relaxation and reflection, the hotel does not provide television or Internet access for its visitors. Rather, an elegant library and ocean views are aimed at giving travelers a change of pace from their normal daily routines without the extravagant costs of many retreat-style resorts. Each room is named for a different author and decorated to suit that author's style. Mark Twain, Gertrude Stein, and Virginia Woolf are all featured writers but the rooms named for Dr. Seuss, Shakespeare, and Edgar Allan Poe are strange and wondrous options for book lovers. The friendly atmosphere that permeates this family-operated business adds to the hotel's coziness, and breakfast in the morning is a communal event where guests are invited to sit with each other at a long table for cheerful introductions and morning chit-chat. With rooms starting at $70 a night, this is a great destination for more than just avid readers.
