Kingwood, located in Humble, Texas, is a community of 21 subdivisions 23 miles south of Houston, Texas. According to the Kingwood Community Guide, it is also known as the "Livable Forest," and has a population of 65,000. Nearly 200,000 million people live within 10 miles. There are 75 miles of hiking and biking trails (aka the "greenbelt") that runs through Kingwood's woods and lakes. Kingwood has 500-plus acres of natural preserve with deer, birds, fish and other wildlife. Lake Houston and Lake Houston State Park are very close.

Chez Nous French Restaurant

Cafe du Bois

The Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center features displays of local wildlife, including live snakes. Enjoy hiking six miles of paved trails and several miles of unpaved trails. Nature trails include viewing of turtles, birds, native landscaping plants, and hardwood and pine trees.
After enjoying the nature trails, try the food at the "cafe in the forest," Cafe du Bois. A house favorite is the oven-roasted Gulf Red Snapper Filet with Herbs de Provence, and a lemon butter and white wine sauce. Any wine connoisseur will delight in the wide range of choices from Cafe du Bois' extensive wine list. Reservations are recommended.

La Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe, Kingwood

After a long day on the nature trail, try a soothing glass of wine and a Chicken Cordon Bleu Dinner entree with green beans almondine and mashed potatoes at the Kingwood La Madeleine French Bakery & Cafe.
