Lake Conroe is a popular destination for fishing, boating and hiking, and is located about 40 miles north of Houston. You can enjoy fishing for large mouth bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill. Recreational boaters have lots of space in the 20,118 acre surface area to ski, fish and enjoy being on the water on the 20 mile long Lake Conroe. Sam Houston National Forest offers a 128 mile Lone Star Hiking Trail, with 40 miles straddling the Lake Conroe section.

La Torretta Del Lago Resort & Spa

La Torretta, a 475-room luxury resort complex, offers nine dining venue choices, full marina, newly designed golf course by Jeffrey Blume, salon and spa with 187 different services. Sam Houston National Forest, containing 163,037 acres, is popular for hiking and boating, and is just 15 to 20 minutes by boat or car from La Torretta. You can enjoy a mile of walking and biking trails within the Del Lago community adjacent to the resort.

You can stay in a private villa with your own boat dock with easy access to Lake Conroe. La Torretta has pontoon, ski boats, jet skis and kayaks for rent. Renting kayaks from September to May (excepting holiday weekends) when boating activity is lower is enjoyable because Lake Conroe is a large enclosed lake where the plentiful boats will create multiple wakes. Another activity resort guests can enjoy is parasailing over Lake Conroe, originating at the resort property. La Torretta amenities include a full fitness center, tennis center and on-site golf club and is located approximately 14 miles west from the IH-45/Highway 105 intersection.

Sunset Harbor Resort

Sunset Harbor Resort luxury condominiums are located on the east side of Lake Conroe. Southern Empress, an on-site full-scale river paddle boat is scheduled to relocate to a sister property in early 2010. Lunch, dinner and special occasion cruises on Lake Conroe are offered. Also, there are four bars, also serving food, around the resort.

Guests can fish off the dock located on the property or rent a pontoon boat, ski boat or jet ski to travel the lake. Guests can contact preferred fishing guides for escorted fishing trips on Lake Conroe. Sunset Harbor has additional activities with an activity coordinator overseeing two swimming pools, indoor/outdoor basketball courts, fitness center and marina/boat launch. You can enjoy walking from the resort to Harbor Town community and the Harbor Town Lighthouse, both approximately a half mile.Sunset Harbor Resort is approximately five miles off IH-45 via FM 830.

The Landing at Seven Coves

The 80-room Landing at Seven Coves extends over Lake Conroe, making fishing possible from your patio. Resort Attractions is headquartered at Seven Coves, offering ski boats and jet skis for rental.

Guests can enjoy walking and bicycling throughout the Seven Coves subdivision. The 1,745 acre Jones State Forest is within 10 miles, offering excellent bird watching opportunities. Sam Houston National Forest, within 15 miles, offers hiking and biking trails (beware of wild animals roaming freely in this forest). The Landing at Seven Coves is just five miles west of IH-45 on FM 830.
