Bombay Indian Restaurant is popular on the other side of town, in Lafayette. The chef is reported to hail from Delhi, and the restaurant serves authentic Indian food. One patron says that Bombay is a "nice place to eat authentic Indian food. Staff is really friendly, usually quick service. Moderate price. Very good ambiance."
However, opinions differ, and Araparu's wife, Mona Oommen, does not recommend Bombay, despite its popularity.

Taj Mahal is known for the fountain that burbles in the middle of the restaurant, adding a "luxurious appeal" for one diner. As is the case with most Indian restaurants, Taj Mahal offers a buffet at lunch in addition to its South Indian entrees at dinner. The dinner offerings are preferred, even at a slightly higher price.

Punjabi Masala Kitchen serves North and South Indian food and is often mentioned as a top Indian restaurant with the others listed here. Though not completely vegetarian, Punjabi Masala is known for offering some of that country's deliciously flavored meatless dishes. Punjabi is located near the Wabash River, just a few blocks from the Purdue campus.
