Orangeburg is an unincorporated community in the town of Orangetown, New York. Many terrific hiking opportunities await Orangeburg visitors at Lake Tappan, Tallman Mountain, Blauvelt, Clausland Mountain Park, and Buttermilk Falls. You'll need a permit to fish at Lake Tappan, but you can swim free at the Tallman Mountain pool, while enjoying the Hudson River landscape.

Barkada

According to the Website, this is "A Filipino Fused Café." The word "barkada" means "group of friends" in Tagalog (a language native to the Philippines and spoken by about 22 million people). Free wireless Internet and board games are available for your entertainment while you wait for your food to be served. Breakfast is available all day for $6, entrees over rice are $4.25, and the Barkada Burger is just $4. Combos, which include rice, two entrees, an appetizer, soup, and choice of dessert or drink, are a bargain at just $7. Dress is very casual. Open 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Barkada's is about five miles from Tallman Mountain.

Calabria Pizza and Pasta Restaurant

This restaurant takes Italian cooking seriously. The Express Lunch Special consists of pasta dishes for $7.50 and entrees for $8.50. The extensive variety of dinner entrees cost around$15, and pizzas range from $12 to $20, depending upon size and toppings. Don't skip dessert, which includes your choice of cannolis, Napoleans, éclairs, Sfogliatelle (filled flake pastries), or mini cakes. Calabria's is less than two miles from Blauvelt State Park. Call for days and hours of operation. Dress casually.

Twin's India Palace

If you love Indian food, Twin's Indian Palace serves good Indian cuisine for lunch, dinner, and take-out. The buffet is inexpensive; you can have dinner for $10 to $15 a person. Weekday lunch buffet will cost you $8.95; the Saturday and Sunday brunch is a dollar more. Open 11 a.m. through 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Saturday from noon to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday noon until 9:00 p.m. Closed Mondays. Located just over a mile from Lake Tappan and about five miles from Clausland Mountain Park. Be sure to try the fresh mango juice.

Quiznos Subs

You'll find the same great sandwiches, soups, and salads at the Quizno's in Orangeburg as you'll find anywhere else, only this Quizno's is just two miles from the 27-hole Blue Hill Golf Course and four miles from Buttermilk Falls. Two people can lunch on a sandwich, chips, and a drink for about $15. Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
