Hotels in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute

Hotels in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute
Back in its heyday, the resort town of Rothesay on the Isle of Bute was a favorite destination for Glaswegians who wanted to go "doon the watter" on steamers that plied the Clyde. Today, the Victorian town is still popular, as are walks on the west coast that overlook the Kyles of Bute. Another option for walking is the 30-mile West Island Way, a waymarked footpath that stretches the length of the island.

Balmory Hall

Set on six acres of private grounds, Balmory Hall overlooks Ascog Bay and a colony of seals, an idyllic setting for anyone who wants to get away from it all. Brimming with deer, hawks, hares and other wildlife, you can almost hear the silence in this peaceful, secluded spot.
The atmosphere of a Victorian house party is recreated in this hotel, where a stay in the spacious en-suite guest rooms comes with cozy fireplaces and breakfast as well. Or stay in a self-catering or serviced apartment. Cycling, golf and walking are some of the popular activities available at this vacation hideaway.
