Hotels in Ohio
Ohio is the birthplace of seven of America's forty-four Presidents as well as the first man to orbit the earth and the first man to walk on the moon. It is home to both centers of industry and the simplistic lives of the Amish. Selecting a hotel in Ohio affords a traveler the opportunity to choose from a number of one-of-a-kind options that are as diverse as the state itself.

The Golden Lamb

The Golden Lamb in Lebanon, Ohio first opened its doors in 1803, the same year Ohio became a state. The antique filled building is on the National Historic Register. 12 Presidents from John Quincy Adams to Ronald Reagan have slept in its 18 rooms, all named after former guests such as Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Charles Dickens, and Samuel Clemens. History is everywhere you look, from the big comfy fireplace in the lobby to the very popular and delicious restaurant which is a destination unto itself. Each room has a private bath and air conditioning. Rooms are divided between four floors, with stairs as the only access. Prices vary from a stay in the Harriet Beecher Stowe room for $107 to the Rutherford B. Hayes room at $133. At the Golden Lamb, history is reasonably price.

The Lofts

The Lofts, located in the heart of one of Columbus' most popular downtown areas, is an exciting blend of 19th century architecture and sleek design. Built in 1882 and originally called the Carr Building, the Lofts is one of last of the area's original warehouse buildings. It has massive wood and steel beams, plenty of exposed brick, as well as floor to ceiling windows in the large and dramatic guest rooms. All of this is carefully counter-balanced with contemporary furnishings that somehow give the appearance that the two worlds were always meant to be one. A few of the amenities include plush Italian linens, in-room safe, gourmet coffee, and a private work-out facility. The Lofts is a short stroll to the popular restaurants, art galleries and shops of Columbus' Short North. Rates range from $119 to $139 a night.
