Lakeside Cottages in Central Illinois

Lakeside Cottages in Central Illinois
A cottage on the lake is the classic family vacation or fishing get-away. The lakes of Central Illinois, deep in the heart of America's beautiful Midwest, provide just such a vacation opportunity. Lakes such as Sangchris Lake, Lake Shelbyville and Carlyle Lake nestle in woodlands on the gently rolling hills of this farming region. Rustic cottages or more luxurious ones are found on the shores of these pristine lakes. Tiny cabins for just two people or huge cabins for a crowd with kids and dogs are all available and affordable at lake recreation areas.

Lakefront Cottages at Carlyle Lake

The Lakefront Cottages at Carlyle Lake include 20 rustic cottages overlooking the lake. Three units are wheelchair accessible. The bedrooms have queen-size beds and there are singles in the loft. Each cottage has a living room with satellite television. Kitchens are fully equipped with cooking and dining supplies. There are gas log fireplaces in most cottages. Carlyle Lake, the largest man-made lake in Illinois has excellent fishing for bass, catfish, walleye and many other species. Bird watching is rewarding here with shorebirds, songbirds and water birds including bald eagles and osprey.
