Located in Tuscarawas County, Sugarcreek--the "Little Switzerland of Ohio"--is the area that was first settled by the Amish in the state. With its picturesque rolling hills and working Amish Farms, Sugarcreek is a walk back in time. Regarded as the Swiss cheese capital of Ohio, there are eight different Swiss cheese factories in the area.

However, while many may only associate cheese and quilt-making with Amish tourism, outdoor activities also abound in the area. In addition to the walking Amish tours of Sugarcreek, the immediate vicinity is also the home of three wilderness areas and a state forest.

The Dutch Host Inn

Located in the middle of Amish farmlands, the Dutch Host Inn is a quaint 33-room motor lodge that holds fast to tradition while providing modern conveniences. All rooms feature refrigerators, microwaves, and coffeemakers with fireplace and jacuzzi rooms available. Decorated with the type of solid oak furniture one would expect in the middle of Amish country, the Dutch Host also features a conference room with kitchenette. Swiss Village Inn

Located in the middle of downtown Sugarcreek, and easily within walking distance to shopping and dining, the Swiss Village Inn is a quaint 10-room facility that puts its guests right in the heart of it all. Featuring a beautiful porch, complete with rocking chairs and hanging flowers, the hotel practically begs visitors to unwind as they go back in time. Rates range from $50 to $90 per night.
