Maine Sailing Trips

Maine Sailing Trips
Maine has a lot of selling points. The beautiful views, fresh seafood and interesting museums are just a starting point. It's full of great outdoor activities, too. There are many hiking trails of varying lengths and experience. There are kayaking tours and many lobstering and whale-watching trips. One of the most popular Maine activities is sailing and there are several remarkable sailing trips throughout the state.

Schooner Olad

Take a sailing trip with schooner "Olad" and enjoy Penobscot Bay in all its glory. View the rocky shoreline and the seals playing about. See a bald eagle flying by and view the secluded islands with hidden mansions. There are things you can only see from a schooner in the middle of the sea and these trips give you an opportunity to do that. You can take a two-hour historic tour and learn the intricacies of Maine. You can bring food and wine and see all the sights in complete comfort. You'll see seagulls, lighthouses and tons of marine life on every, single tour.

Portland Schooner Co.

A sailing trip with the Portland Schooner Co. promises a lesson in history of Maine, Portland Harbor, Casco Bay and beyond. But it is also a lesson in the history of sailing and the great schooners. These fine schooners are wooden and were built in the early 20th century. The schooners "Bagheera" and the 88-foot "Wendameen," both working the seas since the early 1900s, have vast and fascinating histories. They offer two-hour and overnight sails. The two-hour sail entails an optional lobster bake on Cow Island.
