Haunted Hotels in Wichita

Haunted Hotels in Wichita
Wichita, Kansas, may not be the most recognizable city in America, but what Wichita lacks in name recognition, it makes up in paranormal activity. Wichita has a storied past of ghostly events occurring everywhere from water towers to schools to bridges, and the most historic being the Broadview Hotel found in the city's old town. This reputation brings a lot of tourists through Wichita, which the city capitalizes on during Halloween with many unique "haunted" attractions meant for entertaining.

Broadview Hotel

The Broadview Hotel is considered Kansas' most haunted hotel, and its history and stories support such a claim. Located in downtown Wichita, the Broadview Hotel was built in 1922 by George Siedhoff and was considered the most modern and comfortable in the western United States in its time. The eight-story hotel's big attraction was its rooftop garden and restaurant that guests enjoyed during the summer months. The Broadview is massive with 231 rooms, including honeymoon suites, a presidential suite, three on-site restaurants, 10 event rooms and a crystal ballroom. Even the basement has a past as it was used as a speakeasy during prohibition and a bomb shelter in the 1950s.
