Steak Houses in Mississippi

Steak Houses in Mississippi
There might be nothing like a good steak except a good steak served with Southern hospitality. Mississippi has a handle on both. From Creole-infused options to traditional steakhouse fare, the state adds a unique flair with abundant catfish dishes and old-fashioned Southern home cooking. Whether a visitor to Mississippi or a resident seeking a new dining experience, a wide variety of steakhouses can be found to meet the wants of any meat-loving gourmand.

The Veranda Restaurant

The Veranda Restaurant has been hailed as Starkville's No. 1 restaurant for five years and counting. Known for its steaks, the restaurant does not limit its menu to the usual steak house options. Seafood and pasta dishes are featured and include some of Veranda's best dishes, including local favorites shrimp and grits, as well as bayou catfish. The crispy duck also comes highly recommended by both the restaurant and its patrons. Steaks, however, are the passion at the Veranda, and accents can be added to their choice filets, ribeyes and N.Y. strip steaks. Crab meat, shrimp and truffle are all offered additions to every steak cooked. Blue-plate specials are available every night of the week for the early-bird and cost-conscious foodie alike.

Family-owned and operated, the restaurant's first chef was also its namesake, Joseph Broussard. Joseph's daughter, Elizabeth Broussard Rogers, now holds the position of head chef and continues her father's tradition of exciting culinary combinations that make for a unique dining experience each and every visit. New Orleans' favorites such as shrimp creole and three different catfish options grace the menu, along with epicurean feats such as escargot bourguignon and crab cakes with saffron corn cream sauce. Doe's Eat Place

Doe's Eat Place is an American classic among steak houses. The restaurant is known for rave reviews from critics and locals alike. Started in 1941 by Dominick "Doe" and Mamie Signa with money Doe has rustled up from the sale of his bootlegging equipment and a Model T Ford, Doe crafted the steaks while Mamie revised a tamale recipe that would place the restaurant at the forefront of Mississippi steak houses. A number of Doe's Eat Place franchises have begun popping up in recent years, but the family-operated base in Greenville is still up and running.
