Asheville is a popular stop for hikers desiring to stay in the mountains and find a vibrant nightlife and a wide range of eating and shopping options. Cabins and cottages in the city of Asheville allow hikers to enjoy the best of both worlds year 'round.

Campfire Lodgings

Campfire Lodgings is on top of Goldview Knob and provides accommodations that range from cabins to yurts, campgrounds and to RV hookups. The property is located on100 acres of woods that are lined with hiking trails. The Zen-like yurts are perched on wooden decks that give guests the feeling they are staying in a tree house. Yurts are round with a conical ceiling and skylights as well as a kitchen area with a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. Cabins have fully equipped kitchens, two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a pullout sofa. A wood deck and gas grill are provided at each cabin. Pets are welcomed in the camping areas; pet policies vary in the other accommodations.

Willow Winds

Those who prefer more luxurious surroundings after a day outdoors may prefer the cabin rentals at Willow Winds. Trails leading to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park are accessible from the one, two and three-bedroom luxury cabins at Willow Winds. Cabins are made of logs, cedar or stone and most include fireplaces, decks or porches and a variety of other amenities like HDTVs, Internet access, air conditioning and luxury beds. There is a private mountain stream on the property as well as a variety of activities that range from bocce ball to outdoor chess and putting greens. Pets are not allowed at Willow Winds where rates vary widely from peak seasons to off-seasons.

Shoji Retreat

The Shoji Retreat is a massage and spa facility located on a mountaintop overlooking downtown Asheville that provides outdoor hot tubs, cold plunging tubs and saunas. The owner's loft and the Lodge are available for overnight accommodations and sap packages can be arranged to fit in with individual schedules form one of the 26 massage therapists on staff. The Lodge sleeps six and includes a gourmet kitchen and massive fireplace. Fireside massage tables and hot tubs are only a few yards from the Lodge. Since lodgings are slim at Shoji, the property has a strict cancellation policy and requires full payment at time of reservation.
