Walt Disney World Resort's higher-ups will suggest to you that the only way to experience the magic of Disney is to stay in one of their Disney-owned hotels on resort property. Many seasoned Disney travelers will tell you, however, that staying at a nearby, non-Disney hotel can allow for an equally enjoyable trip. Below is a list of Marriott hotels, all located near Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., and most are packed with amenities sure to please outdoor enthusiasts.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village

Located within one mile of Walt Disney World Resort, this hotel is a "Good Neighbor" of Disney, meaning that it is endorsed by Disney World itself. Fairfield offers a shuttle to Disney parks, wireless Internet access, a complimentary breakfast and several swimming pools. Families will also be happy to note that the hotel was awarded Trip Advisor's Traveler's Choice Award in the "Top 10 Family Hotel" category for its attention to kids, featuring a "children's splash zone" at the pools and bunk beds in its suites. The hotel is fairly pricey, however, with nightly off-season rates staring at $159.

Courtyard Orlando Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village

Courtyard Orlando prides itself on its ability to service business and leisure travelers, providing a "well-lit" work desk and ergonomic chair, dual-line phone and free Internet access. One mile from Disney World, this hotel offers both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a fitness center and discounts to area golf courses for the exercise minded. Those who are looking to unwind after a day of physical activity can do so in Courtyard Orlando's spacious whirlpool. Room prices average $40 per night.

Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center

Sure to please outdoor enthusiasts, Orlando World Center is home to an 18-hole championship golf course, six swimming pools and full-service spa. Known as the world's largest Marriott, World Center features 2,000 rooms and suites, award-winning restaurants and wireless Internet access. Kids will be enthralled by the Tropical Lagoon Pool and its 106-foot water slide. About 1.5 miles from Disney World, the hotel's rates begin at $84.

SpringHill Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista in Marriott Village

Springhill Suites claims to have "25% more space than traditional Orlando area hotel rooms," which will come in handy for outdoor enthusiasts wanting more room to accommodate their equipment and gear. Continental breakfast, high-speed Internet access, swimming pool and whirlpool are some of the amenities offered here. The hotel does not offer much in the way of recreation, however, and does not have regular rooms. One mile from Disney World, Springhill Suites start around $90 per night.

Marriott's Imperial Palm Villas

The Palm Villas is primarily a timeshare property, but regular rooms are also available to the average vacationer. Outdoor enthusiasts traveling in packs for a group outing will be happy to know that rooms are of the three-bedroom/two-bath variety, enough to hold up to 10 guests. Guest rooms contain a full kitchen with cookware and tableware, a washer and dryer, and a DVD player. Those looking for more local recreation can find it at neighboring Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention Center, which allows Palm Villas' guests complete access to its amenities. Room rates start at $154 per night.
