Montana Bus Tours

Montana Bus Tours
Montana has some of America's most spectacular scenery and offers some of the country's wildest outdoor activities. But the fact remains, it's a big state. Also, many of the state's most scenic roads are narrow, with a mountain on one side and a cliff on the other. If you'd rather spend your time watching the scenery than making sure you stay on the road, you might consider one of Montana's many bus tours.

Big Sky Bus Lines

This family-owned company, based in Great Falls, Montana, offers party bus charters and tour coach charters from Great Falls in north-central Montana. The buses are equipped with bathrooms, TVs and reclining seats. They seat between 47 and 56 passengers and are air-conditioned to keep off the heat of Montana's summer. Great Falls is easily accessible and makes an ideal base for exploring Glacier National Park and Montana's eastern plains.

Glacier Park, Inc.

Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road, which crosses the Continental Divide, ranks as one of the most scenic drives in the country. But its high elevation, sheer terrain and popularity make for frequent traffic jams and make it difficult for a driver to appreciate the spectacular scenery. Glacier Park, Inc. solves this problem by taking over the duty of driving. In its open-top vintage red buses, you'll have the opportunity to admire the stunning vistas while your driver mans the accelerator, brake, and steering wheel. Tours leave from the east, west, or north side of the park daily throughout the summer.

Buffalo Bus Touring Company

If you'd prefer to visit Yellowstone without having to drive in the park, Buffalo Bus Company offers bus tours in the summer and snow coach tours in the winter. A bus will pick you up at your local campground and can arrange a private tour, if none of its preset tours suit your fancy. Standard tours generally include stops at major geysers and scenic vistas and return you to your campground at the end of the day. During the winter, snow coach tours have the further advantage of going safely where cars and snowmobiles cannot. The snow coaches and buses (the same vehicles, fitted with skis/tracks or tires) also offer a wheelchair accessible option, making it easier for disabled guests to experience the outdoors.
