Pet Friendly Hotels in the Central Oregon Coast

Pet Friendly Hotels in the Central Oregon Coast
On Oregon's Central Coast, locals and visitors alike can indulge their passion for surfing, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing and walking on the beach. For many pet owner, a walk on the beach is best taken with your furry friend. But not all hotels accept pets, and nothing ruins a day at the beach like learning that your dog will have to sleep in the car. Fortunately, pet friendly hotels can be found in this region; just be sure to plan ahead.

The Fireside Motel

The Fireside Motel is located steps from a rocky beach in the quiet town of Yachats, Oregon. The Yachats area offers several more-relaxed outdoor activities, including fishing and birdwatching near the beach at Smelt Sands State Recreation Site and beachcombing at Stonefield Beach State Recreation Site. The hotel allows up to two "well-behaved and well-groomed pets" in selected rooms and will provide you with special towels, sheets, and pooper scoopers. As of November 2009, the nightly rate for your companion is $10 per pet.

The Lighthouse Inn

The Lighthouse Inn has been in operation since 1938 in Florence, Oregon, but it offers modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi. Florence is a magnet for sand lovers all over the region because of its proximity to Oregon Sand Dunes National Recreation area. The Inn allows pets lighter than 35 pounds to stay in certain rooms for a small fee, so be sure to mention that you'll be bringing a pet when you book your room.

The Looking Glass Inn

Located 100 feet from the beach south of Lincoln City, this hotel allows up to two dogs per room for an additional fee of $10 per night, as of November 2009. At check-in, you'll receive a "dog basket" with towels, sheets, dog bowls, pooper scooper bags, and dog treats. All rooms have gas fireplaces and free Wi-Fi, and a continental breakfast is included. Some rooms have kitchens if you prefer to self-cater. If you'd like to picnic or go fishing, head over to the H.B. Van Huzer Forest State Scenic Corridor, about 15 miles inland from the hotel. Stunt kite enthusiasts can visit one of several kite shops in town and purchase a kite to fly on Lincoln City's consistently windy beach.
