Pomona, New York Restaurants

Pomona, New York Restaurants
Pomona, New York, is built around three Village parks and is in close proximity to Harriman State Park, New York's second largest state park. With so much to offer, it is no wonder that local proprietors would offer such a variety of restaurants to hikers in need of refueling on hearty cuisine.

A Taste of Distinction

Located on Route 202, A Taste of Distinction is different than most restaurants outdoor enthusiasts would consider because it is more of a catering business than an actual restaurant. However, if you're lucky enough to grab a seat at one of the only handful of tables, then you are in for a treat. Known for their tasty sandwiches and delectable desserts, this restaurant won't disappoint.

This is a high end restaurant, and you can expect the best even if you are ordering a tuna salad sandwich. A great variety is offered for vegetarians that includes Brussel sprouts in garlic and oil, string beans almondine and wild rice salad with cherries, apples, pecans and white raisins in a divine citrus vinaigrette. If you have a sweet tooth, you will be pleased. Their homemade desserts include pecan pie, chocolate mousse cake and cranberry orange pound cake.

Platzl Brauhaus

The Platzl Brauhaus gives whole new meaning to take out. This incredible establishment offers an outdoor venue for family and corporate picnics. While it offers two indoor dining rooms for up to 600 guests, it's the clam bakes, barbeques and picnics on the lush, tree shaded grounds that entice nature lovers. You and your group can even take advantage of a game of Bocci or shuffleboard during your stay. If those games are too slow for your pace you can enjoy a dip in the pool or a fast paced game of volleyball to work off those lunch-time calories.

Chophouse Restaurant

Tucked conveniently away in Pacesetter's Park, Chophouse Restaurant is one of the friendliest eating establishments in the region. A casual atmosphere is home to an accommodating staff gifted in the culinary arts and hospitality. The menu offers hearty American cuisine, so bring your appetite.

To start your meal, consider the Maryland crab cakes which are reasonably priced and are served with braised artichokes & roasted peppers in a delightful pommeray mustard sauce. The choice of entrees can be a bit perplexing - because they are all so mouthwatering. Choose from Roquefort steak, Steak Au Poivre, slow roasted prime rib Au Jus, Cajun style seared tuna, or beefsteak pie to name just a few. Without a doubt, the Chophouse Restaurant is a great place to unwind and refuel for the next day of outdoor fun with your friends.
