Restaurants in Orange County, California

Restaurants in Orange County, California
Forget about dining Disney-style or getting grub from some mall food court--Orange County has some of the best landscapes that Southern California has to offer, and also the eateries that can showcase them. There are plenty of restaurants that will provide a good view while you enjoy some good food in the warm sunshine. The good views also mean that you'll be close to some of Orange County's outdoor attractions, such as beaches and mountains.

Taco Loco

From fish tacos to tofu nachos, this whimsy taco stand offers something for everyone (plenty of vegan options are available). Located right on the Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, you can view pristine waters and stuff your face with Mexican food at the same time. Settle into one of Taco Loco's Paul Frank stools and enjoy the ocean breeze, knowing that this place won't break the bank. Taco Loco is usually open past midnight, so stop by late for a beer and to view the ocean at night.

The Orange County Mining Co.

Though pricey, the Orange County Mining Co. provides the best panoramic views of the city of Orange in a California silver-mining setting---the rustic structure creates an Old West atmosphere and is nestled high upon a hill. The restaurant is decorated with artifacts from nineteenth century silver mines and is a great place to stop after a hike through the canyons. The menu boasts steak, seafood and pasta. Entrees range from $20 to $30.

The Veggie Grill

Though the two Veggie Grill locations in Irvine do not offer a spectacular view, they are both relatively close to the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, a swampland preserve that's a prime spot for bird watching. The award-winning sweet potato fries at the Veggie Grill will quell your hunger after a romp through the bird park, and hearty sandwiches such as the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' and the All-American Stack will leave you in total shock that it's all vegetarian. Entrees range from $7 to $9.

Rusty Pelican

If you're scoping out the harbor in Newport Beach, then head over to the Rusty Pelican for a bite. The ocean view is stellar--it's another restaurant located on the Coast Highway. The menu is ripe with seafood and pasta, and entrees range from $15 to $25.
