Pioneer Village and Historical Museum
The Nashville, Indiana Pioneer Village and Historical Museum gives a glimpse of life in Nashville during the late 1800's. The village is adjacent to the current Brown County Courthouse and contains many original buildings. The log jail was built in 1879 and housed its last prisoner in 1919. The dog trot building is actually a log barn where spinning and weaving demonstrations are given. It also houses a gift shop and exhibits of pioneer life in Brown County. The doctor's office was originally located in nearby Bellesville, Indiana, and remains untouched since Dr. Alfred Ramsey practiced medicine in the building during the early 1900's. A working blacksmith shop gives a taste of blacksmithing during the 1850's, and products produced here are available for sale in the gift shop.
