Lying directly on the Bay of Fundy's Annapolis Basin, Digby, Nova Scotia, is known as the "scallop capital of the world" for its extensive scallop-fishing fleet. There are plenty of attractions for outdoorsy types, including the Admiral's Walk that runs along the waterfront and takes you by many of Digby's attractions, including the heritage center and fisherman's wharf. The Kejimkujik National Park is also only 30 miles away and offers a host of trails for hikers and bikers. Canoeing, camping, cycling and fishing can also be done in the park.

Mountain Gap Inn

The Mountain Gap Inn in Digby provides rooms, with family-suites available as well as cottages on the shore. There is a beach and hiking trail adjacent to the inn and gardens surround the property. Other amenities include a swimming pool, hot tub, playground, tennis court, giant chess board and guest laundry facilities. Mountain Gap Inn's on-site restaurant offers a view of the Annapolis Basin and the scallop fleet and serves up a seafood-heavy menu, along with a variety of chicken, beef and vegetarian meals. Slocums Pub provides drinks into the night. Rooms are ground-level and feature rustic design. Each includes a color TV and a telephone and offers king, queen or double beds.

Thistle Down Country Inn

Also on the shores of the Annapolis Basin, the Thistle Down Country Inn is located in an old Edwardian estate, which features period detail. Each guest room at the inn is individually designed with art and antiques, and all rooms feature views of Digby Harbor. Modern amenities include cable television and high-speed Internet. A free cooked-to-order breakfast is served each morning in the queen Alexandra dining room, and dinner is available by reservation in the evenings, with a menu focused on the area's famous scallops. The gardens have a view of the harbor. There is a game room, parlor and gift shop all on location. The Smith's Cove Trails are less than seven miles from the hotel.

Hedley House

Providing accommodations in Digby for more than 60 years, Hedley House is located on four acres of private gardens only steps from a beach on the Bay of Fundy. Every room has its own private deck, hardwood flooring, ceiling fans and cable television. Rooms include two double beds, a queen bed or a queen bed with a pull-out sofa. Available features in some rooms include barbecues, refrigerators and kitchenettes. Less than eight miles from the hotel are the Smith's Cove Trails.
