Stuart, Florida, known as the "sailfish capital of the world," is on the southeast coast of Florida in Martin County and surrounded by water. According to Sue Hedgepeth at the Stuart Martin Chamber of Commerce, Stuart, Florida is a bedroom community to larger cities within a two-hour drive (e.g., Fort Lauderdale, Orlando). There are no high-rise buildings in the city because of a four-story maximum height ordinance.

The Elliott Museum

The Elliott Museum holds a historical gallery, antique and vintage cars and a collection of the museum founder's father (Sterling Elliott) most well-known inventions. Additionally, the museum holds the largest collection of signed baseball cards outside the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.

Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center

Florida Oceanographic Center has a mission to educate and inspire people toward taking care of Florida's coastal ecosystem. Two daily programs (seasonal programs being added) include feeding the stingrays (30 minutes) and guided nature walks (90 minutes).

Island Princess Cruises

Cruise down the Intracoastal Waterway on the St. Lucie River, the Indian River and on the Jupiter Sound. Island Princess docks at The Finest Kind Marina (3585 SE St. Lucie Blvd., Stuart, Florida) in the Manatee Pocket. You can stay in the air-conditioned main salon or be on the open-air deck on this 84-foot boat. As you cruise, the captain provides narration of the history behind the area. You will see many beautiful waterfront homes, bird sanctuaries and spoil islands.

The Lyric Theatre

The Lyric Theatre is located in the business center of downtown Stuart, Florida. The Theatre is home to the Performing Arts for the Treasure Coast (nine large communities including Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and Stuart) since 1926. The Lyric Theatre is a fully-restored historic theatre with excellent acoustics for live entertainment.
