Libertyville, Illinois, also known as the Village of Libertyville, is located approximately 37 miles north of Chicago and has a population of 22,000 residents (as of 2006). Outdoor activities include eight miles of biking paths, 500 acres of parks, a golf course and water parks. Libertyville Sports Complex offers indoor rock climbing, eight full-sized basketball courts, two full-sized soccer fields and a heated driving range. For those looking for a substantial meal after a day of activity, Libertyville offers steakhouses with substance.

Austin's Saloon & Eatery

A variety of dining settings at Austin's include private rooms seating 30 to 200 people, an outdoor patio with fire pit, lounge service, and a more traditionally Texas-styled dining room open since 1992. A concert venue, the Fuel Room, is adjacent to Austin's and opened in 2006. As of 2009, Austin's menu includes "Butcher's Best" steak selections priced from $15 to $28 and brick oven pizza ($6 to $19) in addition to a full menu of choices ranging from chicken to brisket to fajitas. Daily specials include unlimited pizza for $6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Sundays children under 12 eat free after 5 p.m. Austin's is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Tavern Dining Room & Lounge

Open since 1983, the Tavern has a formal dining room with an extensive menu and four types of steak available: Wagyu ($65), USDA Choice ($29 to $39), USDA Prime ($31 to $49) and Uruguayan Organic Beef ($29). Prices shown are as of 2009. It also offers fish, poultry and pasta entrees. Open for dinner nightly except Sunday. A more casual lounge area offers small plates and cocktail hour specials priced between $3 and $5 on weekdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Not open for lunch service.

Hanakana Japanese Steakhouse

Hanakana features hibachi-style table side cooking. Menu offerings include steak teriyaki, filet mignon and combination plates with chicken or seafood. Also features a sushi bar offering entrees or rolls for those who prefer faster fare. As of 2009 prices range from $14 to $21 for entrees and combination plates are priced between $23 and $32. Closed Mondays; open for dinner Tuesdays through Sundays and for lunch Tuesdays through Fridays.

Jimmy's Charhouse

House specialties at Jimmy's include filet mignon, porterhouse, London broil and surf-and-turf and range in price from $10 to $29 as of 2009. A rotisserie wood oven is on site to roast chicken and pork entrees. For on-the-go travelers, a wide variety of sandwiches are available as well as hamburgers, both starting at $8. Lunch menu, dinner menu, kids' menu and carry-out all available. Opens daily at 11 a.m.
