Trinidad and Tobago are a nature lover's paradise. The Island of Tobago features one of the oldest rain forest reserves in the Western Hemisphere. There are more than 100 hotels on the islands to choose from, most being in close proximity to diving shops and adventure outfitters.

Located in the heart of Port of Spain's financial district on the waterfront and steps away from Brian Lara Promenade, the 15-story Crowne Plaza Hotel Trinidad is about six miles from Piarco International Airport. This 243-room hotel with a revolving restaurant on top of the building underwent a $15 million renovation in 2009. There is a 24-hour fitness center and an outdoor pool. This hotel meets the American Automobile Association's guest room security requirements and has been given a three-diamond rating by AAA. Rates vary by season. For example, average nightly rates in January start at about $153 for a King room, while summer rates start at about $185, as of November 2009. An executive suite garners about $1,450 per night in summer.

Kapok Hotel

Conveniently located in St. Clair near downtown Port of Spain, Kapok Hotel is close to Queens Park Savannah, a nearly 198,000-acre green space, once home to a sugar estate; and the 62-acre Royal Botanic Gardens of Trinidad and Tobago, one of the oldest gardens in the West Indies. Maracas Beach and Piarco International Airport are about a 30-minute drive from the hotel. The 10-story Kapok Hotel has 94 rooms, including 12 one-bedroom suites. Experience a taste of the Caribbean in the hotel's two restaurants. Kapok Hotel has a two-diamond rating by AAA. Rates start at $176 and there is a 21.5 percent service charge and hotel tax, as of November 2009.

Blue Waters Inn Tobago

The eco-friendly Blue Waters Inn Tobago is perfectly perched on the beach between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean on the Island of Tobago. With an in-house Professional Association of Diving Instructors Gold Palm Facility, Blue Waters Inn is an ideal lodging choice for diving enthusiasts. Hiking tours are available in the nearby rain forest. Blue Waters is an American-breakfast-inclusive accommodation with rates that start at $140, as of November 2009.
