The Menger Hotel

Known in 1859 as "the finest hotel west of Missippippi," the historic Menger Hotel once hosted such luminaries as Sam Houston, General Lee, General Grant and Presidents McKinley, Taft and Eisenhower. Featuring 316 guest rooms and suites, the hotel showcases original wrought-iron balconies, along with San Antonio's largest swimming pool. Located adjacent to the historic Alamo, this San Antonio landmark retains much of the furniture, art and accessories from the hotel's past, including four-poster beds, Victorian sofas, marble tables and period artwork. One of the hotel's more famous claims to fame, Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders in the hotel's Menger Bar. The hotel's 316 luxury guest rooms evoke the building's fabled history.

The Crockett Hotel
