Named after Chautauqua Lake, the small town of Chautauqua is located on the westernmost tip of New York state. Although Chautauqua is best known for its famous Chautauqua Institution, it also offers a wide range of pursuits for the outdoor enthusiast. Athenaeum Hotel Dining Room

Built in 1881, the Victorian-style Athenaeum Hotel is the jewel of the Chautauqua Institution. The Athenaeum's dining room provides a fine dining experience for hotel guests and walk-ins. Complemented with local produce and proteins, the menu consists of a full breakfast, a buffet lunch and a five-course dinner on a daily basis. The restaurant kindly asks patrons to wear business casual attire to preserve the hotel's elegant ambiance.

Andriaccio's Restaurant

For over 25 years, Andriaccio's Restaurant has served traditional Italian food to the Chautauqua community. This family-owned establishment is especially known for its homemade tomato sauce and 12 gourmet pizzas. Andriaccio's also offers a lengthy list of steaks, breaded veal, chicken cutlets and seafood. Catering for weddings and special events is available too.

Restaurant La Fleur

Located in an old Victorian farmhouse, Restaurant La Fleur is the only restaurant in Western New York to receive the coveted Four Diamond Award from AAA. The chefs pride themselves on serving the finest French cuisine, such as oven-roasted duck breast, herb-crusted rack of lamb and a traditional cheese course. The menu also boasts a selection of desserts, like a French apple tart and a trio of creme brulees. La Fleur is only open from early summer to the late fall.

Redline Drive-In

For a taste of the 1950s, head to the Redline Drive-In, which is 1 mile north of Chautauqua. You can eat your meal at the retro-style bar or have your meal delivered to your car by roller-skating waitresses. The food consists mostly of American favorites, like hamburgers, milkshakes and French fries. For guests concerned about their waistline, the restaurant also offers salads and wraps.
