Milford is the sixth oldest city in Connecticut and home to one of the prettiest harbors in the state. The Wepawaug River runs through the town, so boat enthusiasts and kayakers will have fun here. Silver Sands State Park has trails and bird-watching, as well as swimming in the Long Island Sound. Milford Point's Audubon Society provides outdoor educational adventures at the Wildlife Refuge and Bird Sanctuary and, with some of the area's finest restaurants serving up spectacular local dishes, Milford will truly delight.

Beach House Restaurant

For lunch or dinner in a supremely elegant atmosphere, Beach House Restaurant is the place to eat. A raw bar, soups, salads, fresh lobster, peppercorn tuna and sea scallops are just some of the dishes on the menu. Rustic apple tart or a decadent chocolate mousse cake are must-eats for dessert, and don't miss the extensive wine, cognac, port and scotch menu. Beach House Restaurant also does a superb Sunday Brunch if you're in town over the weekend and want to regenerate after that early morning swim.

Stonebridge Restaurant

Fine dining at its best awaits you at Stonebridge Restaurant. Serving American fare, Stonebridge Restaurant has plenty of seating in the restaurant, bar or out on the patio. The restaurant overlooks the Wepawaug River waterfall, so it is a lovely, romantic place for a dinner. Add to that the shellfish and raw bar, delicious seafood appetizers, homemade soups (try the clam chowder), and fresh catch of the day entrees all make Stonebridge a top-notch dining experience. Prices are affordable too.

Rainbow Gardens

A Victorian style building houses Rainbow Gardens, a restaurant serving continental food with an American flair. Their extensive menu offers such delights as Bombay bliss coconut shrimp (served with a sugar banana rum sauce) and raspberry chicken explosion. After dinner, relax in the cocktail lounge overlooking the Milford Green or sit outside on the patio and enjoy an after dinner brandy. Rainbow Gardens is lovely and the staff friendly.
