Seafood Restaurants in Downtown Boston, Massachusetts

Seafood Restaurants in Downtown Boston, Massachusetts
Residing along the Atlantic Ocean is Boston, the capital of Massachusetts, a hodgepodge of historical landmarks, beautiful architecture and unforgettable experiences--including that of dining in the best seafood restaurants in the country. Ranging from casual to fine dining, the following is a guide to some of downtown's most unforgettable seafood destinations that are sure to please even the pickiest of palates.

Jasper White's Summer Shack

The Summer Shack, located in Boston's Back Bay area, offers a wide variety of traditional and eclectic seafood dishes. Some may find the Shack's prices a bit steep, but when dining downtown this is to be expected. This casual restaurant is unique in that it always offers at least five oyster options, whereas other seafood restaurants in the area may only offer one or two. The Shack is perfect for large groups, families or sharing an appetizer at the full-service bar before heading over to Fenway Park. Highly recommended is the clambake, which includes a lobster, steamers, mussels, chorizo, corn, potatoes and a hard-boiled egg.

Union Oyster House

A popular destination among tourists and families, the Oyster House offers an extensive menu that includes more than five lobster dishes. Expect long waits here during the busy summer season.

Moon Villa

To experience an Asian twist on seafood in downtown Boston, head to Moon Villa in Chinatown. Moon Villa is a hidden gem, as it does not advertise and is considered very popular among the locals. When dining at Moon Villa, one will be assured the fish is fresh, as customers may select their very own fish or crustacean of their choice from the restaurant's enormous tank. The fish is then prepared to their liking and ready to eat within minutes. Because it is open late (past 1 a.m.), for a calmer dining experience steer clear of the influx of sometimes rowdy club goers, who tend to flood Chinatown's restaurants around this time.

Atlantic Fish

Atlantic Fish may be one of downtown Boston's most upscale choices when it comes to seafood. Located in the Back Bay area, Atlantic Fish's posh bar is always packed with a plethora of businessmen and women gathered for their after-work shrimp cocktails and dirty martinis. This restaurant offers several kinds of chowder, a must-have for one's first visit to Boston. It is ideal for a romantic evening and not suitable for children. Call ahead to reserve a table when planning to dine here, as the restaurant is always busy.
