Woods
Mackinac Island is located between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Because motor vehicles are not permitted on the island, horse-drawn carriages are the norm; visitors will find themselves transported back in time. The Woods restaurant is part of a Tudor mansion built in 1905. The atmosphere combines Bavarian flair with the feel of a hunting lodge and an elegant chalet.
Woods' patrons can enjoy fresh fish dishes unique to the area, like seared Michigan whitefish with leek fondue. German specialties include käsespätzle, baked noodles with onions and cheese, as well as spicy beef goulash with hazelnut spätzle, onion potato cakes, an extensive beer selection and an award-winning wine list.
