Alexandria Bay is a beautiful spot in New York, It's a great starting point to explore the Thousand Islands of New York and Ontario, Canada. There are actually more than 1,800 islands located in this area of St. Lawrence River. The region is famous for its fishing, but the wide seaway is also excellent for boating, water skiing and scuba diving. Experience local history at two American castles: Singer Castle and Boldt Castle. Singer Castle was once owned by the sewing machine family, and Boldt Castle is famous for its tragic love story.

Bonnie Castle Year-Round Resort

While all of the 128 rooms at Bonnie Castle offer deluxe accommodations, 68 of the rooms have Jacuzzi tubs. There are also two presidential suites. In the evening, watch the sun set over the St. Lawrence at the Rum Runner Wharf Bar and Grill or take in a Vegas-style show at the Home of the Stars nightclub. The hotel has two pools.

Most rooms at the Edgewood Resort have balconies with breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence. Rooms feature king or two queen-size beds. Alex Bay Lodge

The Alex Bay Lodge is five-minute walk from downtown Alexandria Bay. It has 65 air-conditioned rooms with cable TV, and some have refrigerators and Internet access. The owners of the Alex Bay Lodge also run a hot-air balloon service. Take a balloon tour to get a bird's eye view of the Thousand Islands.

Maple Crest Motel

In addition to a traditional motel, Maple Crest also includes a lodge and chalet. The motel itself is air conditioned and serves a complimentary continental breakfast. If you're bringing children, cribs and bunk beds are available. The chalet is a small cottage perfect for a romantic getaway. For a group fishing getaway, choose the lodge. It's also known as the Houghton House Annex, and it accommodates 14 to 20 people. It has a convenient fish cleaning station and aeration system.

The Ship Motel is conveniently located to all of Alexandria Bay's top attractions, including fine restaurants, shops and boat tours.
