North Coast: The Inn at Manzanita
Located minutes from great kayaking on Nehalem Bay, this beautifully landscaped, compact hotel sits about 100m from the beach, and is a great option for romantically minded travelers, according to the guidebook "Weekends for Two in the Pacific Northwest: 50 Romantic Getaways." Outdoor activities abound in the area: nearby Cape Falcon Kayak rents gear for kayaking on the bay or in the surf---you might even get to view their custom kayak-making operation at their CSA farm. Hikers shouldn't miss hiking up Neahkahnie Mountain, with its awe-inspiring views of the Pacific. Look for the trailhead on Highway 101 about a mile from the hotel, or ask for directions at the front desk.

Central Coast: The Lighthouse Inn
The Lighthouse Inn is located in Florence, the gateway to Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, the premiere destination for Oregonian sand enthusiasts. In addition to the expected dune buggy and ATV excursions, the dunes are a center for the sport of sandboarding. About two miles from the hotel you'll find Sand Master Park, which bills itself as the world's first sandboarding park and offers rentals and ATV-free dune surfing. The Lighthouse Inn offers free Wi-Fi, and allows pets lighter than 35 lbs. in some rooms for a small fee, so your furry friends can enjoy the dunes as well.

South Coast: Ireland's Rustic Lodges
Ireland's Rustic Lodges overlook the sands of Southern Oregon's Gold Beach. With free Wi-Fi, relaxing hot tubs and fireplaces in each cabin, you may never want to leave the property. But if you do, you'll find plenty of options for outdoor fun. If you've never seen a true old growth forest, you'll definitely want to check out the Schrader Old Growth trail. You'll need your own car, as it's about a 20-minute drive from the hotel, but you'll have the opportunity to see one of the very few old growth forests left in the world. Ask for directions at the front desk before heading out, as the roads can be tricky. For the less ecologically focused, jet boat tours of the Rogue River and fishing charters are also popular options. If you prefer a more traditional hotel room, try the adjacent Gold Beach Inn, which is owned by the same people.
