Hotels on Camelback in Phoenix

Hotels on Camelback in Phoenix
Camelback Mountain is the most recognizable peak in the Phoenix area. Named for its similarity to a crouching camel, this mountain in the middle of the city is a popular spot for hiking, biking and enjoying the desert scenery. When staying in Phoenix, hotels near Camelback Mountain are ideal for their proximity to outdoor attractions, as well as downtown and sightseeing opportunities.

Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain

The Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain is an upscale boutique hotel nestled in the mountain foothills. The impressive desert-themed resort and spa offers magnificent views of Paradise Valley. In addition to nearby shopping and golf courses, the resort features a swimming pool and five tennis courts. A guest favorite is the Hummingbird Sanctuary, with meeting places for hummingbirds placed strategically throughout the resort.

Nearby outdoor activities include desert horseback riding and hiking in the Camelback Mountain preserve. Guests also receive golf privileges at several nearby, world-renowned courses. Exciting sightseeing opportunities are only a few miles away, including Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West and the Desert Botanical Gardens.

Aside from encouraging the natural beauty of the desert, Sanctuary employs many sustainable practices, including property-wide recycling, linen conservation and staff incentive programs to encourage a reduced footprint. The resort's restaurants use organic food and beverage products purchased from local suppliers.

The Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa

Just north of the Camelback Corridor is the historic Arizona Biltmore Resort. The resort, designed in part by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, opened in 1929. It has been a favorite retreat for movie stars, musicians and politicians. In fact, every U.S. president since Herbert Hoover has stayed at the landmark property.

The property features 39 acres of lush landscaping and mountain views. The nearby mountain preserve is an ideal location for hiking or horseback riding. The adjacent Arizona Biltmore Country Club features two 18-hole championship golf courses and an 18-hole putting course. The property's vast courtyards also allow for outdoor chess and croquet games.

Camelback Inn

Situated between Camelback and Mummy Mountains, the Marriott-Camelback Inn is another great location to enjoy the beauty of the Phoenix Mountain Preserves. Scottsdale, Arizona's very first resort and the first resort acquisition by Marriott hotels has been a home away from home for many celebrities since opening in 1936.

The Camelback Inn is a five-minute drive from either Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak for hiking and exploring. The nearby Scottsdale area has many bike trails, and the resort concierge can arrange horseback, Jeep, white-water rafting or hot-air balloon expeditions throughout the region.
