Historical Society of Topsail Beach
Founded in 1984 with its mission being to preserve Topsail Beach history, the Historical Society of Topsail Beach offers an assembly building as well as the Missiles and More Museum on its premises. Native American crafts, military displays and an exhibit detailing the most notorious pirates who once roamed the region, including Blackbeard, are among the features of the museum. Learn about the U.S. Navy's secret guided missile program that once operated from the island and take in the V-22 Osprey aircraft exhibit detailing the development of the world's first production tilt-rotor aircraft.

Battleship North Carolina
History comes alive on the Battleship North Carolina, a decommissioned WWII ship moored in the Cape Fear River opposite downtown Wilmington.
Self-guided tours allow visitors to tour nine decks, taking in many of the interior compartments including sick bay, crew quarters, mess hall and more. Read the visual displays outlining the North Carolina's gallant defense of America in the Pacific Theater. A gift shop and picnic area are located on the grounds.

Sea Turtle Hospital
Officially known as The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, this Topsail Beach nonprofit organization rescues injured sea turtles, restoring them to good health before releasing them again. Currently undergoing an extensive building project, guests can enjoy a gift shop and visit patients during visiting hours. An intern program for college students is also available.

Hammocks Beach State Park
Twenty-five miles from Topsail Beach is Hammocks Beach State Park, located on scenic Bear Island. Free of commercial activity, the park and island offer nature lovers a close-up look at wildlife, including sea turtles, birds and plenty of natural fauna. Accessible by seasonal passenger ferry or private boat only, this rustic outpost offers miles of solitary beach walking and panoramic views. Favored by artists and welcoming to campers.
