Restaurants in Mahopac, New York

Mahopac is an exurb of New York, located about 47 miles south of the city. The hamlet surrounds the 587-acre Lake Mahopac, from which the town derives its name. The lake, which houses a residence designed by Frank Lloyd Wright on one of its private islands, is also the source of most of the area's outdoor attractions; however the ample multiple-use parks nearby provide many opportunities for activities like hiking and nature observation. A resort community since the mid-1800's, the area has developed into a year-round community, and as such, a wealth of fine eateries and attractions now call Mahopac home.

The Terrace Club

The Terrace club is an homage to 1940's supper clubs, featuring a warm atmosphere that is enhanced by copper tiles and dark wood. Open for lunch Tuesday through Friday and dinner Tuesday through Sunday, the restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating, a open air lounge, and two bars. A favorite of the Mahopac area, swing music surrounds patrons enjoying a casual elegant dining experience just like it used to be. Reservations are recommended and the Terrace Club is closed on Mondays.

Ariano's Trattoria

Open 7 days a week, Ariano's Trattoria is known throughout the area for their brick oven pizza and pasta. Featuring a menu of traditional and specialty pizzas, heros, appetizers, lunches, dinners, and specials, Ariano's is the archetype of a hometown Italian restaurant. A full catering menu is available for special events, and they even deliver on orders over $8.00. Ariano's is a staple of Mahopac life.

The Lantern

A Mahopac institution since opening in the late 1960's, The Lantern is considered the area's finest steak and seafood establishment. Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, the restaurant features a charming rustic decor throughout their dining room, bar, and banquet facilities. The Lantern also hosts a variety of special events, including frequent live music. Jackets are not required for the dining room, however reservations are recommended.
