Lake George is the premiere location for water sports in up-state New York. One can enjoy parasailing, jet-skiing, boating, fishing and many more activities throughout the summer and spring season. All these sports, however, will make one work up an appetite. Therefore, it is wise to know a few good restaurants in area.

East Cove

East Cove Restaurant is one of the only eateries in Lake George built like a log cabin. It offers diner's classic grill and American-style food such as New York strip sirloin, center cut pork chops, caramelized salmon and prime rib with shrimp scampi or scallops casino. A children's menu is available for diners eating with kids. On Sundays, East Cove has a brunch that costs $15 for adults and $8 for children. For businesses, events, or celebratory functions East Cove caters for up to 300 people.

Mario's Restaurant

Opened in 1955, Mario's Restaurant in Lake George has kept true to its humble beginnings. Several original recipes, like baked three cheese lasagna and chicken calabrese are still on its menu today. Along with these classic dishes, other great Italian food like shrimp marinara, baked manicotti parmigiana and jumbo cheese ravioli are offered. Diners can also select from the restaurants wide selection of wine. But wine is not for all--and for those small kids dining in, there is an inexpensive and simple children's menu

Boardwalk Restaurant and Marina

Resting on top of Lake George's Marina, the Boardwalk Restaurant and Marina is an eatery with a great water-view. Diners can watch the boats come in while eating on the restaurant's outdoor and boat house deck. The menu of Boardwalks contains simple and modest American food such as Philly cheese-steak sandwiches, classic Reubens, and the unique "Boardwalk Burger," whose meat comes from a local New York slaughterhouse. The restaurant can be rented out for business meetings, holiday parties, birthdays and other special events.

Porreca's

Located at the north end of Lake George, Porreca's is a family owned Italian restaurant that makes its own cheese, desserts and breads. Usual Italian food like chicken Parmesan and shrimp marinara, is offered alongside of more creative dishes like bourbon-marinated pork and summer pea ravioli. Porreca's also has a wide selection if wines and a modest breakfast menu. For parties or functions, the restaurant can be rented out to accommodate up to 80 people.

The Adirondack Pub and Brewery

The Adirondack Pub and Brewery offers fine American cuisine and a large selection of freshly brewed ales. Some of its dishes include crab, artichoke and spinach cheese dip, calamari, buffalo chicken salad, boneless pork sandwich and the Jack Daniels steak. The restaurant offers large party seating from noon to nine in the evening Sunday through Thursday, and noon to five in the afternoon Friday and Saturday. The Adirondack Pub and Brewery also has an on-site souvenir store that sells shirts, glasses and other promotional merchandise.
