Central Valley is a hamlet in Orange County, New York, on the south end of the town of Woodbury. It has a population of less than 2,000 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The most notable attraction in the area is the Woodbury Premium Outlets, which feature over 200 outdoor stores, shops and boutiques in a lively, rustic setting. Additionally, there are a number of local eateries that offer a variety of cuisine that can satisfy almost any palette.

Gasho Hibachi Steakhouse

This exquisite Japanese steakhouse is decorated with a 16th century flair outside, including rock gardens, wooden bridges and koi ponds The inside features elegant wood latticework, shoji screens and chairs arranged around stove-top tables where patrons can watch skillful master chefs chop, slice, flip and cook ingredients in a showy display. Guests can start by ordering a range of fun drinks, with names such as Buddhist Child and Punch of the Ninja, as well as appetizers including hibachi scallops, shrimp tempura or chicken teriyaki. Lunch specials include mahi-mahi, flounder fillet, or any number of hibachi cooked meats. Master chef dinner recommendations include two-item combos such as shrimp and salmon or surf and turf, all served with a side of zesty hibachi rice. The restaurant offers a kid-friendly menu and special rate packages for groups of 20 or more people.

Cosimo's Woodbury

This sophisticated, low-lit restaurant features soft amber walls, a brick hearth with crackling fire and a warm, friendly staff to enhance each diner's experience. The menu consists primarily of contemporary Italian cuisine that fuses delectable Old and New World recipes, making it perfect for everything from business lunches to romantic nights out. The downstairs wine cellar doubles as an elegant, private dining room. Terrace seating is also available during the warmer spring and summer months. Cosimo's is open for both lunch and dinner. Grilled chicken penne and chicken valdostana (like a mushroom marsala) are among the most popular dishes. But patrons are also free to choose from a wide swath of sandwiches, pizzas, signature pastas and other authentic Italian entrees, all while snacking on a basket of brick oven garlic bread with melted mozzarella. On-site pastry chefs are constantly creating a bevy of sweet, decadent concoctions, such as the house tiramisu as the perfect end to a hearty meal.

Amalfi's Pizzeria

For casual dining and a friendly, inviting atmosphere, look no further than this genuine Italian pizzeria that many locals have ranked as the best in the area. Starters include a range of soups, salads, and appetizers such as fried calamari and garlic bread. The more health-conscious can opt among a number of chicken wraps. The lunch crowd may choose from a variety of cold or hot hero sandwiches with mouth-watering ingredients such as prosciutto, meatballs, spicy sausage and veal parmigiana. Seafood entrees include shrimp scampi, mussels and linguini with clams, while the manicotti and baked ziti offer filling portions. But the restaurant is best known for its pizzas, particularly the signature Roman style, made to order with a bevy of fresh toppings. An Amalifi pizza can feed anywhere from three to eight people, depending on whether it's a 16-inch pie or a full tray. A kid's menu is offered, as well as catering for groups of 20 or more. Doors are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and the restaurant is closed on Sundays.
