Dog Friendly Hotels in Brainerd, Minnesota

Dog Friendly Hotels in Brainerd, Minnesota
More lodging places in the United States are recognizing the desire of dog owners to have their furry friend accompany them on vacation. In Brainerd, Minnesota, the home of Brainerd International Raceway, Vacationland Family Fun Park, the Paul Bunyan Trail, and Crow Wing State Park, some hotels offer this option to their guests. Because pet policies can change, tourists traveling with a dog should check with the hotel about current policies when making reservations.

Econo Lodge

The Econo Lodge of Brainerd, which charges $7 per night for each dog staying in the room, is within 10 miles of the Brainerd International Raceway and public beaches open to swimming on Whipple, Rice and North Long Lakes. It is about eight miles from Crow Wing State Park. Four miles away is the beginning of the Paul Bunyan Trail. The Northland Arboretum, a nature area, also is about four miles away.

Red Roof Inn

Like the Econo Lodge, the Red Roof Inn is within 10 miles of both the raceway and the state park, as well as the public beaches. A parking area for hiking the Paul Bunyan Trail is less than five miles away on Conservation Drive off Excelsior Road. Red Roof Inns in 36 states have a pet-friendly policy. Only one dog is allowed per room, but there are no additional charges for the pet to stay. The dog must be well-behaved. If the dog is registered with the American Kennel Club, a special discount may be applied. Brainerd's inn has an indoor pool, and a fitness center nearby allows for free use of its facilities.

The Rodeway Inn of Baxter, a city within four miles of the center of Brainerd, is considered pet-friendly. Rodeway Inn's policy allows for two dogs in the room with an additional charge of $10 per night. From this hotel, the guest and his dog can walk to the beginning of the Paul Bunyan Trail, which is more than 100 miles long. A nine-mile drive will take the dog owner and pet to Crow Wing State Park. The inn is less than five miles from Vacationland Family Fun Park, which features a rock-climbing wall, go-carts, mini golf, bumper boats and batting cage. For a quick round of golf, the Pine Meadows Golf Course is less than a half mile away.
